Abstract Portrait Elvis 864 16 x 20 x 0.5 inches (40 x 50 x 0.5 cm) Oil and Acrylic on Stretched Canvas with Antique Gold Ornate Swept Frame.
This canvas painting was rolled packed and stored for many years, 23 years to be exact. The reason for stretching and framing was that I needed to use the frames, as they were taking valuable studio space and had been putting off the hard work for many years.
The beautiful 4" Antique gold ornate frame was purchased with intention to frame the portraits and had to choose the beat and ones which had been varnished. It's a very heavy and thick frame with brass hook and eye supplied and fitted.
The portrait is painted in oils and varnished for protection- and yes, after 23 years it's done its job well. The Abstract background and body are Acrylic and pearlescent paints and rub on metallic transfer effects, the Same used for guiding gold. All purchase and supplied from specialist artist quality suppliers. Even today, have lost none of their freshness and shine as intended.
The abstract colours and shapes were deliberately chosen for each portrait's colour, shape and design- i.e. in Queen Elizabeth portrait the Union Jack is used, but I did not want a dark blue so used a pearlescent light blue teal so that it would not to clash with the red. Another recurring feature is only the flesh parts of the portraits are painted in oils and not abstracted. In this particular painting, pearl white 3D dots are used as jewels.
I have tried to choose portraits which are still revenant to today's news and firm old favourites but also one or two I like my self artistic point of view. Hope you enjoy and brings back some wonderful memories.
