Two Abstract colourful figurative nudes 091 Acrylic on Stretched Canvas 50cm x 60cm x 1.5cm (20 inches x 24 inches x 0.5 inches)

A very colourful and emotional painting. The background was too busy for the figures so calmed it down with plain white which I find far more claiming and appropriate.
The figures are painted in large single bold strokes with vibrant colours more in style. Emphasized painterly qualities and strong colour over the representational or realistic values.
The nude male and women were posed, the strong contrast of shadows is represented not by skin tone but contracted with pure almost primary colours mixed on the canvas at speed which retained it's vibrant fresh look of colours.  I became more interested in the overlapping and textures representation of form and accidental but persuasive strokes and mixing on canvas directly. The overall effect is chaotic but interesting and obtuse motifs of abstract figures.
The background cuts into and diffuses the edges of the figure's form, giving a lost and found edge, a trick John Singer Sergeant used a lot.
The overall impression is a much more punchy and lively work of art which is far more interesting and captivating.
